PEFC certified beer

25.06.2009

PEFC Italy has announced the first beer eligible to carry a PEFC label. The beer is brewed on spruce bark, mountain pine buds and Scotch pine needles originating from PEFC certified forests.

The Italian-based Gino Perisutti Company brews the beer. They produced a “Blonde PEFC Mountain Pale Lager” and a “Grand Cru PEFC Mountain Amber Ale”. The two beers are brewed with yeast, spring water, barley malts and wheat, hops, spices, needles, bark and buds.

PEFC Italia underlines that the marketing of the beer is a way of making visible the importance of non-wood products.
